Hello From Helena

Sorry I have not written my Blog for a while.  Internet access here in Montana is spotty at best and we have been doing quite a bit of site seeing as well.  Western Montana is such a beautiful place.  I will be posting pictures on Facebook when I can.
The first day we were in Helena we spent getting settled in.  The next day we set out towards the Northeast and drove around Nevada Lake and had lunch in the cute little town of Lincoln, MT.  We were at the Great Divide.
We spent some time exploring the town of Helena which is the capitol of Montana.  There is a beautiful capitol building.   I highly recommend taking the city tour because you learn so much about the history of the town and get an idea of where things are.
We took one day and drove around Canyon Ferry Lake.  We turned down some of the side roads and got to see a herd of deer and a couple of Osprey nests.  It was really a fun day and I had fun shooting the scenery and animals.  We had lunch in Townsend on our way back to Helena.
Yesterday we drove South towards Butte and then got on I90 and got off on Highway 1.  We drove through the small town of Anaconda   We were at the Continental Divide.  We saw many horses and cows at the many ranches along the way.  We saw an old abandoned Silver mine which was pretty cool.  The rock formations we saw were amazing.  I shot lots of pictures along the way.  Flint Creek ran along the road we were on which was lovely as well.
One sad thing here is there are a lot of dead pine trees in the forests.  They have had an infestation of the Bark Beetles which kill the trees.  It causes a big fire danger as the trees dry out.  I hope they can find some solution to this problem.  I am sure it affects the logging industry here too.
We passed a couple of signs along the way:  Mining Museum-Usually Open and Metzger's Used Cow Lot.
I am not sure if the second one was a joke or not.
I would like to give a plug to my friend and fellow Blogger, Kelly Allard.  She has a new Culinary Blog about Minnesota.  I wish her much success in the future.

Check out this cool Genealogy Project by my Aunt Rose.  It is about some of my Ancestors on my Mother's side of the family.
