Greetings from beautiful Watford, North Dakota (said with tongue in cheek). We drove 11 ½ hours on the first day of our journey. It was a very long day. It was a lot hotter than I thought it would be this far North and very humid. The wind has been blowing ever since we got to North Dakota.

I have no internet access here so God knows when I will be able to post this Blog. It is an odd feeling to not be able to touch base with friends and family like I usually do on a daily basis. I guess that is part of the adventure.

We had a nice visit and dinner with our friend Tony and his son Mug last night. They were gracious enough to buy us dinner at the local steak house. Tony is driving a crude oil truck and Mug is working as a mechanic up here on the oil fields.

We dry camped at the Man Camp where Tony & Mug are living at here in North Dakota. These guys work very hard in often harsh conditions. It is very desolate with lots of oil rigs and trucks hauling water and crude oil. The drilling goes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so they all work long hours. They pay very well but I must say you earn every penny they make up here.

It is quite amazing how the terrain changed as we traveled North from Interstate 94. It had been very flat all the way and suddenly you came into the beautiful North Dakota Badlands. We stopped and took some photos at a scenic overlook. As we continued North just as abruptly we were back to the plains again.

As I write this I am sitting in the motorhome waiting for my husband to get back from Tioga, North Dakota. He drove up there early this morning to check on a plumbing job his doing some consulting on. When he returns we will get back on the road heading to Montana to meet our friends.

Here is today’s Thought For The Day:
